Bread emergency - you can bake bread without an oven?

What would you like to eat if they were stranded without power? It could happen, can happen. A natural disaster, a collapse in the delivery system, recently tested, North-East or a terrorist attack against the infrastructure could leave you without power. Do not despair. You probably have a source of heat a stove, a barbecue, a fireplace, or a place for the fire to cook. (Never use a grill or cooker in an enclosed space.) In most cases you can find a wayTheir daily bread to eat - even without an oven.

Fry. Those indulgent raised, glazed donuts are fried. You can do the same with any dough. Serve hot with a little 'butter and syrup or honey and receive a treatment that the clamor for kids who, even without an emergency. Just bread, mix as directed and let the dough can rise. Instead, make bread, rolls or pat the dough on a counter until about 1/2-inch thick. Cut the dough into wedges, separate theCuts and let rise again until twice as thick. Heat a frying pan, heat oil and slip the dough pieces two or three at a time in hot oil. If one side is golden, then turn the dough over. When the oil is hot enough, the dough should absorb little oil. When you have finished drying the fried bread on paper towels.

Boil. Bagels are boiled. Actually, they are boiled and then baked. You can form your dough into a donut shape, let rise, then gently slide them into a large panrapidly boiling water. Once the bread is hard, remove with a slotted spoon, let dry and then fry each side in a lightly greased skillet to create a crust and finish cooking. The advantage of this technique is that you can use much less oil (and oil in an emergency are limited) than frying.

it.'s right, even without an oven you can bake bread cheek. It 'easy to do on most outdoor grills. (Be prepared. Always have extra propane or charcoal on hand, butNever use an outdoor grill.) Baking requires heat from above and below. If your grill has a lid, use a bucket or tub to capture the heat and put down the bread. (You want as much heat comes from above, as below.) If the bread is hot and probably as a bit 'under-stick pan to raise her, a few empty tuna cans, an old brick almost nothing will work until nearby island, the heat from the bread.

You canPan on baking bread. Line Dutch oven with aluminum foil and place the dough on baking sheet or in the oven. Stack coals on the lid.

You can bake bread over a fire with two pans. Two pie tins will work for biscuits. To form a makeshift oven, put a large heavy on hot coals, a lid or baking sheet over the pan on top, and stack on hot coals. Do not forget, try as much heat from above and below to get there. (The trend is to have too muchHeat the bottom.)

A good place to practice these techniques is on your next camping holiday. You can become a true professional, unconventional bread while enjoying the treat of fresh bread while camping. We guarantee that fresh bread over the fire will be the envy of the campsite.
